How to generate barcode artwork online

The generator creates the graphic. It does not issue a GTIN or certify the final print.

    Select UPC-A, EAN-13 or EAN-8 for a linear retail barcode, or choose GS1 Digital Link QR for a 2D retail workflow.

Which barcode format should I use for a retail product?

UPC-A is common for retail products in North America, EAN-13 is widely used internationally, and EAN-8 is reserved for small packs when a GTIN-8 has been assigned. Use the format required by your retailer or GS1 Member Organisation.

Does this tool issue a new UPC or GTIN?

No. It creates barcode artwork from a number you already have and checks its mathematical check digit. Obtain a licensed GTIN from a GS1 Member Organisation and use Verified by GS1 to check ownership information.

Can an online barcode generator guarantee that a barcode will scan?

No. This tool checks the encoded data, included quiet zones and nominal dimensions. Final performance also depends on print gain, colours, contrast, material, damage, curvature and placement. Verify the barcode on the final printed packaging with suitable equipment before production.

What size should an EAN-13 or UPC-A barcode be?

At 100% magnification, the X-dimension is 0.330 mm and the target bar height is 22.85 mm. GS1 retail guidance allows an X-dimension from 0.264 mm to 0.660 mm for these symbols. Do not stretch width and height independently.

What is a GS1 Digital Link QR code?

It is a QR Code that encodes a GS1 Digital Link URI. The URI can carry a GTIN and optional attributes such as batch, serial or expiry, while connecting scanners and consumers to online product information.

Should I replace my linear barcode with a 2D barcode now?

Follow the requirements of your trading partners and market. During the retail transition, many products will carry both a linear barcode and a 2D barcode until the relevant point-of-sale systems can process 2D data.

Can I generate a batch of barcodes?

Yes. Paste or upload up to 500 GTINs, validate the rows in the browser and download SVG or PNG files in a ZIP with a manifest. Invalid rows are reported and omitted from the generated artwork.

Are my GTINs uploaded to a server?

No. Barcode generation, CSV parsing and ZIP creation run in your browser. You enter an email once to unlock downloads, but the GTIN list and generated artwork are not uploaded for processing.
