How to create a packaging dieline online

A dieline is the flat blueprint for a package. It identifies the cut, fold, crease, perforation, bleed, safe and glue areas that packaging artwork must follow.

  1. 01

    Choose a packaging template

Select a folding carton, mailer, corrugated box, label, hang tag, sachet or stand-up pouch starting structure.

  2. 02

    Enter the finished dimensions

Set the inside or outside size in millimetres or inches, then adjust bleed, safe margins, stock and structure-specific controls.

  3. 03

    Preview and export the dieline

Check the flat and folded views, compare an optional supplier SVG, preview your artwork on a private 3D mockup, then download SVG, PDF, DXF or PNG.

Packaging dieline templates and editable export formats

Start with common packaging structures and download files that remain editable in design, prepress and CAD software.

Box and carton dieline templates

Create folding cartons, ecommerce mailers, one-piece folders and common corrugated slotted cases.

Label, hang tag and pouch dielines

Generate rectangle, round, oval and wrap labels, a configurable hang tag, flat sachet or stand-up pouch artwork guide.

SVG, PDF, DXF and PNG exports

Keep named vector and CAD layers for cut, fold, perforation, bleed, safe areas, dimensions and panel labels at 1:1 scale.

Private 3D packaging artwork mockup

Upload a finished SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP and rotate the packaging mockup without sending the artwork to a server.

Compare a supplier dieline SVG

Overlay a printer or converter SVG, calibrate its document width and inspect alignment without uploading the file to GoVisually.

Packaging dieline generator FAQs

Answers about dieline templates, dimensions, export formats and production use.

Is this a FEFCO 0201 production drawing?

It follows the familiar RSC or FEFCO 0201 panel arrangement, but the box plant must apply its own flute, score and manufacturer-joint allowances.

What is a packaging dieline?

A packaging dieline is the flat, unfolded template that shows where a box, label or pouch will be cut, folded, creased, perforated and glued. Designers place artwork against these guides before the package is printed and converted.

Is this dieline generator free?

Yes. You can create and preview as many custom dielines as you need. One email verification unlocks SVG, PDF, DXF and PNG downloads on the current browser; it does not create a GoVisually account.

Is this a final manufacturing die?

No. It is a customizable dieline starting file built from the dimensions and settings you provide. Your printer or converter must still confirm stock caliper, crease allowances, closures, tooling and equipment-specific tolerances before production.

Which packaging dieline templates are included?

The generator includes 19 structures across folding cartons, winged and tab-lock mailers, one-piece folders, RSC, FOL, HSC, multi-depth and CSSC corrugated cases, tray-and-lid packs, labels, hang tags, sachets and stand-up pouches.

What does the DXF dieline export contain?

The DXF is written in millimetres with separate CUT, FOLD, PERFORATION, BLEED, SAFE_AREA, DIMENSIONS and PANEL_LABELS layers. Curves are exported as CAD-compatible circles or polylines.

What is the difference between inside and outside box size?

Inside size describes the usable cavity of a finished box. Outside size describes its finished exterior. When you choose inside size, the generator applies a nominal stock-thickness allowance to the structural panels. Your converter should confirm the final caliper and crease allowances.

Can I save or share a custom dieline?

Yes. Your latest dieline configuration is saved in the current browser. The Share control copies a URL containing the template, dimensions and all structure-specific production settings.

Can I preview packaging artwork in 3D without uploading it?

Yes. The 3D artwork mockup reads your SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP file and maps it onto the package entirely inside your browser. The artwork is not sent to GoVisually or stored on a server, and it is discarded when the browser tab closes. The result is a concept mockup, not a production proof.

Can I compare this dieline with a printer or supplier SVG?

Yes. The Compare file view overlays a printer, converter or supplier SVG on the generated dieline. You can calibrate the supplier document width, adjust scale, position, rotation and opacity, and inspect obvious discrepancies. The SVG is sanitised and processed only in your browser. This visual comparison does not replace converter approval.
